A Patchwork Life

English Paper Pieced Project That Would Be My Summer Obsession

Life Has Changed

Life has undergone considerable changes over the past couple of years. Jayme started school, and we are very proud of how she is doing. With a void at home and desperate for friends in our new community in Oklahoma, I answered a Facebook invitation to sew at a local church. My decision to step into the unknown ranks as one of the Top Ten Best Things I’ve Decided to Do. The fellowship hall at the Noble Avenue Baptist Church lived up to its name. What I found was a welcoming group who would quickly become my friends. In addition, purpose started to sprout and grow into a flourishing life of creating beauty and sharing it with the community.

For the Better

Since joining the sewists (people who sew) at Noble Threads, I have made dozens of quilts, some for family and many to donate to our community. My daughter, Elena, who encouraged me to try the group, has grown to be quite the quilt maker in her own right, as has her daughter, Hero. And then, there’s my husband. He was eager not to be left out. He taught himself long-arm quilting and has since started making his own quilts. It’s been so much fun to see what has come from a Facebook invite, open hearts, and a willingness to take a chance on something new.

And Has Taken on a New Look

With that said, a slight change in branding will be made here on the website to reflect our new adventure in creating beautiful things. We will be adding a gallery, featuring some fun quilt stories, as well as projects, tips, and patterns. I hope it will encourage you to dive in and join the fun. We will see where it leads. Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping my devotions and recipes in place for you to enjoy as well. Altogether, it will create a beautiful, patchwork life.

Please Say Hello.

It’s been a while since we’ve interacted. Do you have a quilt story to share? I would love to hear it.

Our lives are like quilts – bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.

My quilt stories almost all center around you. When I say center around you what I’m saying is you were the heart of teaching me to quilt. Always patient, always loving.

Ah, thanks! I taught a beginning class this past Saturday. I had forgotten how much I love seeing others create. ❤️
