Eat, Play, Eat

Life with Jayme has a rhythm. If you follow me on Facebook, you know our adventures have a common theme. No matter where we go, a playground and something sweet to eat are almost always included in every itinerary. Playing and eating are great ways to spend time together, don’t ya think?

This weekend, we drove to Ventura on the California coast to mark my birthday. We had lunch at Spencer McKenzie’s. They are famous for fish tacos, which we have eaten many times but today, we opted for an Ahi Burger and Blackened salmon salad. Both were delicious.

We then took the pedestrian bridge over the freeway to the beach. Jayme played at the playground for a while. The weather was great for watching the kiddo and enjoying the ocean view.

No birthday is complete without a sweet treat, so we headed over to Ojai Ice Cream found in downtown Ojai. Lots of people had the same idea so we had to wait in line for a bit. When it was our turn, I tried a few tastes of their different yummy flavors like Honey Lavendar and Orange Blossom, but settled on Roasted Banana Brownie, which I shared with Paul, and Honey Crunch, which I did not. 😊 Paul also had Rum Raisin and Jayme, Ojai Orange. Yum.

All-in-all, it was a great day. Traffic wasn’t bad according to California standards for our two-hour drive from our house in the desert. It was lovely and refreshing to see the ocean. The time in the car is the best part. It allows us to reminisce about life and dream about other adventures we might want to experience. And those are some of my favorite pastimes.

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content.

Please forgive me for the poor quality of pictures. I was shooting blind with the bright sun and a low battery. I hope they give you a glimpse of a beautiful day.
