Weekend Wander

Weekends are for recharging the soul. I think that is what God had in mind when he designed the Sabbath—a time to take a break and remember all the goodness of life. This might be why the Sunday Drive was born.

Now that the weather has cooled and fall colors are starting to show, it’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors. We did just that. We enjoyed a drive into the San Bernardino mountains, a picnic, and a short hike at Heaps Peak Arboretum.

Heaps Peak is one of our favorite places to go. It’s a short distance from our house. The park is beautiful with its tall trees, shady spaces for enjoying a leisurely meal, and easy walking trail. Perfect for kids. Jayme was thrilled. “I’m going hiking!” she said over and over. She ran the trail and climbed on rocks and logs. She even worked on her map skills. This girl does love a map. And the dirt as you can see. Lol! After a wash-up and a change, we finished up the day with Big Bear Village and ice cream. It was a wonderful day.

If you haven’t refreshed in a while perhaps it’s time. Take a break and wander. Your soul will thank you.

The key to a wonderful life is to never stop wandering into wonder.
