I wondered today,
Did I make a difference in the world?
I kissed babies,
Poured Cheerios,
Changed diapers.
But did I do anything that made a difference in the world?
I hugged tightly,
Read words,
Sang silly songs.
I wonder if those are things that can make any difference the world.
What would come from time spent living a simple, quiet life?
Would it pass away unnoticed?
Or return in the lives of those who were kissed, ate Cheerios, or joined in the singing?
Was the world different
By the moments of love,
The small offerings of service,
Or the delight in each other?
I wonder.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin . . . “
Zechariah 4:10
